A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/8 inches (3.49 cm) in height overall consisting of a gold vertical type of sword formerly worn by foot artillery personnel with blade to base in front of and extending over a black ring surmounting a gold saltire, the two crosspieces terminating at the top with two red arrowheads and each discharging saltirewise a red vapor trail, all above a gold circular scroll in base inscribed INTEGRITY AND VIGILANCE in black letters.
Scarlet and yellow (gold) are the colors used for Artillery. The upward thrust of the arrowheads with issuant vapor trails (simulating missiles) allude to the air defense capability of the Group. The black ring depicts the bore of an artillery piece and connotes the units protective ring of gunfire. The saltire simulates the X the Roman numeral 10 to represent Virginia, the tenth state to enter the Union. The latter together with the foot artillery sword indicates the units artillery organization within the Virginia Army National Guard.
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 107th Artillery Brigade on 10 October 1967. It was redesignated for the 107th Artillery Group on 25 July 1968. The insignia was rescinded on 29 July 1975.
